Is the short-term hiring of Willow Bay, the wife of Walt Disney Co. Chief Executive Robert Iger, a sign that there may be a brewing relationship between Bloomberg and Disney’s ABC News?
That’s the question the New York Times’ Decoder is wondering about.
Bloomberg TV hired Bay as a special correspondent to cover next week’s Milken Institute Global Conference, explaining that the company lacks a large presence in Los Angeles, where Bay lives. Bloomberg TV head of U.S. operations David Rhodes said, "we have relationships with a lot of different networks,” and added that Bay’s hiring was unrelated to that.
But a few ABC News reporters have recently appeared on Bloomberg, and, as earlier reported, the two companies had jointly tried to hire CNBC’s David Faber.
