Wednesday night’s (April 14) opening night triple-header coverage of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs drew the best NHL playoff opening night ratings on cable in six years.
The games, on Versus, did a .5 rating and drew an average of 478,000 viewers. The games were also the most-watched opening night NHL playoffs among men 18-49 and men 25-54 on cable since 2002, Versus said in an announcement.
4.6 million watched the Deadliest Catch on Tuesday. Hockey has a long way to go. 480,000 is not a big number on cable anymore.
Ice hockey is an interesting exercise, I like it.
