In the shifting sands of upcoming NBC comedy pilot "Beach Lane," Patton Oswalt is out of the co-starring role just days after being cast, the Hollywood Reporter reports.

Oswalt had been cast as a wealthy slacker who’s been handed the job of running a Hamptons newspaper, and hires a renowned journalist, played by Matthew Broderick, to revive the publication. According to the article, producers have offered Oswalt another part, but it’s unclear whether he would want to stay on the pilot in another role.

Kristen Johnston co-stars in the pilot.
