Bret Michaels, the star of reality TV shows including "Rock of Love" and the frontman for the band Poison, remained in critical condition over the weekend after suffering a brain hemorrhage, Reuters reports. 

Michaels was conscious but speaking with slurred words as doctors seek the location of the bleeding at the base of his brain stem.

"Bret is a fighter and we are hopeful that once all is complete, the slurred speech, blurred vision and dizziness etc will be eliminated and all functions will return to normal," according to a statement from his publicist.

The 47-year-old singer has an album scheduled to be released later this year and is appearing on current season of "The Celebrity Apprentice," which he filmed several months ago.
