Survey Says: Fox Affiliates Didn’t Want Conan Anyway

Apr 15, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Here’s something pretty telling. At the Fox affiliates meeting in Las Vegas, when Fox affiliate managers were asked how many of them would like to get O’Brien back into negotiations: just two or three out of the more than 100 affiliates raised their hands, B&C reports.

With O’Brien off the table, the meeting instead focused on retransmission consent and how top programming is shifting to cable from broadcast.  Another topic of discussion was broadcasters’ concerns over the Federal Communications Commission’s plans to reclaim spectrum. The overall feeling at the meeting, which was closed to the press, was one of optimism, attendees told B&C after the meeting.

Also, affiliates are seeing ad sales rebound along with the economy, the article says.

  1. As my kids would say: “No duh”
Why should a guy who finished second to a tired 63-year-old weatherman-turned-comedian have more viewership this time around?

  2. Well, at last some sense in this ‘Conan’ farce. He should feel very lucky he got the Golden Parachute from NBC. TV is loaded with people with REAL talent, who, unfortunately go to work every day at small and large stations for union scale; and you don’t hear them moaning about it. Bye Bye Conan; there is a time to get off for everybody.

  3. Interesting layout on your blog. I really enjoyed reading it and also I will be back to read more in the future.
