What’s Up, Doc: Cartoon Network Plans ‘Looney Tunes’ Relaunch; Also Adds an Animated Version of Mad Magazine

Apr 21, 2010  •  Post A Comment

At the Cartoon Network upfront the network announced that "The Looney Toons Show" will be one of the keys to the line-up, a return of the classic Warner Brothers’ animation shorts starring characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Yosemite Sam, the Road Runner, Tweety and Sylvester, according to the Hollywood Reporter.

The plan is to have Bugs and Daffy in suburban settings rather than the forest, but have the characters interact in a half-hour length story, as opposed to the original seven-minute shorts. The program will also feature cartoons-within-a-cartoon.

There will also be a 90-minute award show called "Cartoon Network’s Hall of Game" featuring sports stars, as well as an animated version of Mad Magazine called "Mad."

Additional new shows include, "Robotomy," "Secret Mountain Fort Awesome," "Young Justice" and "Run It Back Sunday."

  1. I have a few Loony Tunes DVD’s… Since the big studios are so bent on branding, why the heck hasn’t WB worked this iconic asset more? But I don’t think the half-hour format will work as well, which will only deplete their value. I wish they’d put shorts up before their movies. Might help their B.O. receipts.
