In Hollywood’s quest to remake popular TV series from the past — most recently "77 Sunset Strip" and "The Big Valley" were greenlit — the latest old favorite to get a big screen adaptation will be "The Man from UNCLE," according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The NBC spy series, which ran from 1964-68, starred David McCallum and Robert Vaughn. It was a huge hit for a few years, and even spawned a spinoff called "The Girl from UNCLE."

Warner Bros. is behind the new project, with David Dobkin directing and Max Borenstein penning the script.

  1. If they — WB — do to the wonderful “The Man from U.N.C.L.E.” what they did to “The Wild Wild West” or “The Avengers”, we’re in for a real disappointment. Dare we hope for something better?
