Daytime Emmys to Honor Dick Clark, ‘American Bandstand’

The Daytime Emmys will feature a tribute to Hollywood icon Dick Clark and his series "American Bandstand" during next month’s award telecast, Variety reports. 

Some of the stars lined up for the tribute include  Barry Manilow, Garth Brooks, Simon Cowell, Jay Leno, Cher, Marie Osmond, Frankie Avalon, Ann-Margret and the Spinners.

Daytime Emmys executive producer David McKenzie has promised that the award ceremony will focus on performances, and will make extensive use of its new locale in Las Vegas. 

The 37th Daytime Emmys will air on CBS on June 27. Regis Philbin will serve as host.

  1. Wow, a group even older than the crew that was on American Idol. I am sure that will bring the young viewers to the screen.

  2. The Emmys are not the Grammys or the Tonys. Viewers tune in for the AWARDS, not PERFORMANCES. They are completely out of place here.
    What a waste of a return to actual broadcast television.
