Barry Sonnenfeld, the director of films such as "Men in Black," is working on a supernatural TV thriller called "Beat the Devil," the Hollywood Reporter reports.
In a twist, the show is being sold internationally before approaching U.S. television networks. "The idea is to get showrunners involved in the international versions of a show," said Raul Mateu, president of Fluent Media Group, which is partnering with Sonnenfeld and Resonant TV on the project. "By the time we bring it back to the U.S., the producer didn’t just see it because an agent had it; he’ll be invested in the project and know why it worked." Having Sonnenfeld’s name on the project adds credibility, although he isn’t committed to writing, directing or producing any version of the project.
