Harmonic Buys Omneon for End-to-End Video Content Storage

Harmonic has agreed to buy Omneon to create a company providing end-to-end video content storage, processing and delivery for some of the top media companies, the Financial Times reports.

The $274 million purchase includes $190 million in cash. Closely held Omneon specializes in storing and processing video content, and its customers include the BBC, BSkyB, CBS and News Corp. Harmonic provides live and on-demand video delivery to personal computers.
