Wrestling Over Intellectual Property: Hulk Hogan Sues Cocoa Pebbles Cereal Maker Over Commercial

May 27, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Professional wrestler Hulk Hogan, whose real name is Terry Bollea, is suing Post Foods, claiming that the cereal maker used his likeness without permission in a commercial for the food company’s Cocoa Pebbles, the Tampa Tribune reports.

In the commercial in question, a blond, muscular wrestler named Hulk Boulder beats up Fred Flintstone and Barney Rubble in a wrestling ring, but is himself beaten up by Barney’s son, Bamm-Bamm.

Hogan’s lawsuit said his likeness is shown "humiliated and cracked into pieces with broken teeth." The lawsuit also states that Hogan used the name Hulk Boulder early in his career.

Hogan claims that Post didn’t seek permission to use his likeness, and that he has been harmed by "the unauthorized and degrading depictions in the Cocoa Smashdown advertisements."

Hooooo Boy, you should be ashamed.

  2. Hulk Hogan should sue himself for being the biggest caricature of himself. He has become a far bigger parody of himself that the cocoa pebbles cartoon.
