‘Sarah Silverman Program’ Canceled on Comedy Central

"The Sarah Silverman Program" has been canceled on Comedy Central, ending the program after three seasons and despite a Twitter campaign to convince executives to keep it, Nellie Andreeva reports at Deadline.com

The show was teetering on cancellation last year after she and two fellow executive producers threatened to quit after the network asked the program to slice 20% from its budget. A co-financing arrangement with Logo helped smooth the way to a 10-episode third season. But the writing was on the wall when the network pushed back the series from 10:30 p.m. until midnight.

  1. I’m so glad I won’t have to be assaulted by the endless commercials. I find this show or person’s adverts offensive and in poor taste. What about that crass material ever made a program?

  2. She is not really that funny, and neither is the show. That was the problem. Where have you gone, Dave Chappelle…our nation turns it’s lonely eyes to you (for good humor).

  3. I agree, she may be funny on standup, but it didn’t translate. I saw a couple episodes, enough to not care.

  4. The Sarah Silverman Program was awesome. Best thing by far on Comedy Central. And now it’s gone. There needs to be another comedy cable network. It’s not healthy to have only one (monopoly).

  5. This will be the ideal weblog for anybody who desires to know about this subject. You realize so a lot its almost challenging to argue with you (not that I truly would want…HaHa)!!! You certainly put a brand new spin on a subject thats been written about for a long time. Wonderful stuff, just fantastic!
