The CW Buys Rights to Cult Drama ‘Moonlight’ That Ran on CBS

Apparently television executives hope vampires will be hot in reruns, too. The CW is acquiring the rights to broadcast "Moonlight," which aired on CBS a few years ago, Deadline.com reports.

"Moonlight" was produced for CBS by Warner Bros. TV. The CW is co-owned by CBS and Warner Bros. The lead character in "Moonlight" is a private investigator who is also a vampire.

The network will pair the reruns with repeats of its own "Vampire Diaries" starting June 3. It may be a smart move, given that the premieres of two other much anticipated vampire-centered entertainment are scheduled next month: the third season of HBO’s "True Blood" and the film "The Twilight Saga: Eclipse."
