"True Blood" fans will be given lots to feast on in the show’s third season, ranging from werewolves to shape-shifter Sam Merlotte’s real family, reports USA Today.

Viewer interest in the show is shaping up to be robust, with fan site true-blood.net reporting four times as many visitors in the past month as in the same period in 2009. With the second season ending with the cliffhanger of vampire Bill being kidnapped after proposing to Sookie, the third season will kick off with werewolves helping Sookie to track down her missing beau, the USA Today article says.

And Merlotte’s search for his biological family will be one of the third season’s main stories.

According to the report, "They’re an itinerant, very poor and sketchy family. He finds out who these people are and why they’ve given him up. … It’s sort of like a Pandora’s box, that he thinks he can go and meet them and then leave. But he can’t put the top back on the box," said Sam Trammell, who plays Merlotte.
