Video: Must See TV–Conan’s Interview on ’60 Minutes’ Last Night

May 3, 2010  •  Post A Comment

In full, Conan O’Brien’s interview on "60 Minutes’ last night.

In a controversial review of the interview, Hollywood Reporter columnist Andrew Wallenstein wrote:

"Not since another silence-breaking media event — the Tiger Woods "press" conference — has a public figure backfired so thoroughly in his attempt to try to put the best face on a bad situation (and Conan ain’t doing as badly as Tiger)."

And, "Desperate as O’Brien is to appear as if he’s emerged unscathed from his bout with NBC and Jay Leno, he betrays himself at every turn. Time and again he talked about his departure in the agonized terms of someone suffering a fatal illness. Admitting to bouts with depression, he tells Kroft, ‘The amount of stuff that’s happened in my life in the last year is … it’s going to take a long time to process it.’ "

We love Andy, but we could not disagree with him more. We think Conan did fine and that Wallenstein mischararcterizes the interview. Watch the video and let us know what you think.

  1. I completely agree with you. Andy got it dead wrong. I can’t believe we watched the same interview. Conan was funny, self-deprecating, maybe a bit fatigued, but never desperate or whining.

  2. Hey how are you doing? I just wanted to stop by and say that it’s been a pleasure reading your blog. I have bookmarked your website so that I can come back & read more in the future as well. plz do keep up the quality writing
