ABC’s new legal drama "The Whole Truth" has signed Maura Tierney, marking a return to television for the actor after she underwent treatment for breast cancer, EW.com’s The Ausiello Files reports.

While Tierney had tried to return to TV last spring with NBC’s "Parenthood," she had to drop out because of her treatment and was replaced with Lauren Graham. Tierney’s cancer is in remission, the report says.

She’ll play Kathryn Peale in "The Whole Truth," a deputy bureau chief in the Manhattan District Attorney’s office and whose main opponent is a criminal attorney played by Rob Morrow of "Numb3rs."

Tierney is best known for portraying Nurse Abby Lockhart on "ER," for which she received an Emmy nomination.
