Charlie Sheen’s plea deal unraveled on Monday, June 7, 2010, TMZ reports.
According to a later TMZ article, "The woman who threw the monkey wrench in the Charlie Sheen plea agreement wanted to tighten the screws on Charlie to the point he couldn’t even light up a cigarette while he was out working at a local theater….Beverly Campbell is Pitkin County’s Jail Administrative Officer. We’ve learned … on Monday, Campbell insinuated herself in the deal her boss — the Sheriff himself — signed off on. Campbell believes Charlie is not eligible for work release, but rather his daily get-out-of-jail pass should be something called ‘Useful Public Service (UPS).’ "
TMZ concludes the article by saying, "In the end, we’re told Charlie’s lawyer, Yale Galanter, refused to relent and pulled the plug [on the plea agreement]."
The plea agreement was in an effort to figure our how Sheen will serve his 30-day jail sentence for attacking his wife last Christmas day during a ski vacation in Aspen, CO.
Thus is remains unclear when Sheen will be able to begin to shoot new episodes for next season’s "Two and a Half Men."
Sheen’s next court date is supposed to be July 12.
CBS may be sorry they signed a new contract. If this starts to build more negative publicity the ratings may take a dive. He has lived a charmed life to this point and you have to wonder when it will fall apart. This type of move on a more than reasonable settlement, based on his history, is stupid for Charlie and his lawyer to challenge.
