Eli Manning will soon have a new teammate: SpongeBob Squarepants.

Manning and a number of other of his National Football League colleagues–both players and coaches–are going to lend their voice talents to a new series on Nicktoons, both the cable channel and NFL have announced.

" ‘Rush Zone: Guardians of the Core’ for Nicktoons [will be a] 22-episode series based on the NFLRUSH ZONE, the NFL’s online world for kids, [and] is comprised of two-to-five minute shorts featuring an unexpected new hero, all 32 NFL teams and the voices of NFL players and coaches as themselves, such as coach Sean Payton, who led the New Orleans Saints to victory in Super Bowl XLIV, and New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning," the announcement said.

It will air in September, through February, culminating with a one-hour movie special that will air the day before the 2011 Super Bowl.

The show "follows Ishmael, a 10-year old boy who was just an ordinary kid until learning that all 32 NFL stadiums also serve as secret strongholds of an otherworldly benevolent life force that he has been chosen to guard," the announcement said, adding, "That life force, once the core of a far-off peaceful planet, has been broken into pieces, or shards, which are hidden in every NFL stadium around the country. An evil villain known as Sudden Death is determined to find the shards, reassemble them and end humanity. To stop Sudden Death, Ish is given the physical abilities of an NFL football player (and a few additional super powers) to battle on and off the gridiron. He must work with the Rusherz, the NFL superheroes representing all 32 teams, to stop the Blitz Botz, robots controlled by Sudden Death. Taught by his mentor, O.T. and guided by NFL players and coaches, Ish learns exactly what it takes to be a true hero."

According to the announcement, "The series also will be available on Nicktoons.com and NFLRUSH.com, the NFL’s official website for kids, following its premiere on Nicktoons. Additionally, the series is being created in high definition for use on Jumbotrons in NFL stadiums across the country."

  1. New York Giants jerseys is very beautiful.

  2. I’ll gear this review to 2 types of people: current Zune owners who are considering an upgrade, and people trying to decide between a Zune and an iPod. (There are other players worth considering out there, like the Sony Walkman X, but I hope this gives you enough info to make an informed decision of the Zune vs players other than the iPod line as well.)

  3. iPods (classic & touch), the Ibiza Rhapsody, etc. But, the last few years I’ve settled down to one line of players. Why? Because I was happy to discover how well-designed and fun to use the underappreciated (and widely mocked) Zunes are.

  4. I cant believe the NHL is going to risk losing one of the best players in his prime to the nHL
