Fox News Tops Second-Quarter Cable-News Ratings, Nabbing 13 of Top Cable News Programs; But Ratings Decline Year-to-Year

Fox News remains dominant among cable-news networks as the channel aired the top 13 programs on cable news during the second quarter, reports TVNewser.com.

Still, it wasn’t all good news for the network, the article says. The cable channel saw a ratings decline, although that was set against a backdrop of industry-wide ratings declines for cable-news networks.

Compared with a year earlier, Fox News’ viewers slipped 9% in total day ratings, while the decline was 10% in total viewers for prime time, according to the article. The worst hit show was "Hannity," which reported an 11% decline in viewers for its 9 p.m. time slot.

  1. News Networks always decline when there are not big national stories that people change their viewing habits to see. The good thing for the news networks is that it is only a matter of time before the next big story. Meanwhile the entertainment networks continue to drop with no chance to ever get back to their old numbers.
