NBC scored with the Stanley Cup finals on Wednesday night — an overtime win by the Chicago Blackhawks over the Philadelphia Flyers — but all that checking and skating couldn’t top Fox’s "So You Think You Can Dance" overall, reports TVbythenumbers.com.

The first hour of "So You Think You Can Dance" collected 2.9 average rating in the 18-49 demographic, over NBC’s coverage of the hockey game which netted a 2.2 average rating in the same demo.

From nine to ten, Fox maintained the lead. "Dancing" had a 3.1 for the hour, while the Stanley Cup game had a 2.8 average rating in the 18-49 demo.

At ten, NBC’s broadcast grew to a 3.7 average rating in the 18-49 demo. ABC’s "Happy Town" rated an average 0.8 rating for the hour.

  1. Why can’t NBC have good audio for hockey? The audio has been bad all year.

  2. Hands down, Apple’s app store wins by a mile. It’s a huge selection of all sorts of apps vs a rather sad selection of a handful for Zune. Microsoft has plans, especially in the realm of games, but I’m not sure I’d want to bet on the future if this aspect is important to you. The iPod is a much better choice in that case.

  3. Ice hockey is an interesting exercise, I like it.
