"Precious" star Paula Patton is in discussions to join "Law & Order: SVU" as a full-time assistant district attorney, reports EW.com’s The Ausiello Files. 

She would be succeeding Sharon Stone in the role, who joined for four episodes as ADA Jo Marlowe. Patton played Ms. Rain in "Precious," the high-school teacher who was a sort of mentor for the title character played by Gabourey Sidibe, the article says.
