At this point, one would have thought that all of the Beatles-related material from their appearances on "The Ed Sullivan Show" would have made it to market.

Not so.

"On Sept. 7, UMe will reissue "The 4 Complete Ed Sullivan Shows Starring the Beatles" with 13 minutes of previously unreleased footage…," USA Today reports today, June 22, in its print edition.

The additional footage, the article says, "includes an ad for Beatles dolls and [Sullivan’s] interview with members of the band, not seen since it aired on May 24, 1964."

Also, the story says, the reissue is newly remastered, with audio in mono and a 5.1 remix. Furthermore, the four episodes have the original commercials included from 1964 and 1965.

The Beatles’ appearance on Sullivan’s show on Feb. 9, 1964 was seen by 73 million viewers, which represented 86% of all TVs turned on at the time, and was the most-watched TV program of all-time up to that point in time.

  1. And you wonder why people download for free. What a rip off for those who bought the orginal DVD set. Same as when Dylan sold the 3 disc “Tell Tale Signs” for $125. At least when the Stones added the 6 remade songs to Exile on Main Street they offered a limited edition and regular version. Still a rip off but not as obscene a rip off as Ed Sullivan and Dylan are.

  2. It is Embarrassing that people allow Extremist Foreign Political Figures on our soil immediately after many years of hate towards our country. The usa should leave the UN and show every one of those extremists our opinion of there stupid philosophy. Qaddafi, Ahmadinejad, Chavez, and much more have far to long been made welcome to the Sacred and Splendid nation. I only say Enough is enough, Shut down our doors to those Hateful Bastards and Say No to the U.N. Get out, your NOT nor have never been made welcome.

  3. I reckon Barack obama may well be wasting his time refuting Ahmadinejad merely because a number of American’s could be lumping Ahmadinejad together into the same type with The president—then again if President obama can be believed, and you never know in this case, Perhaps this is actually the one instance in which President obama fails to fault Bush.

  4. The Zune concentrates on being a Portable Media Player. Not a web browser. Not a game machine. Maybe in the future it’ll do even better in those areas, but for now it’s a fantastic way to organize and listen to your music and videos, and is without peer in that regard. The iPod’s strengths are its web browsing and apps. If those sound more compelling, perhaps it is your best choice.

  5. I mean, I could see all this fuss over the guy if he’d led Jersey to the Finals.
