A secret Twitter account has been spotted in an ad for Verizon’s upcoming Droid phones, and the discovery may lead to free cell phones, reports FOXNews.com.

Motorola and Verizon are preparing for the launch of the Google Android-powered Droid X. The tech companies intend the phone, scheduled for launch June 23, to compete with the Apple iPhone. The launch is set for the day before Apple’s next iPhone goes on sale.

As part of the prelaunch hype, it appears Verizon is launching an online game and giving away free phones.

Bloggers at cell phone enthusiast site BerryScoop.com point out a scene from the latest ad for the Motorola Droid X in which the reflection of a Twitter account is seen in a closeup of an eyeball.

The account’s "bio" reveals: "The next generation of [Droid] is coming soon, but you might get yours before that. Droid X phones are hidden across the country. Follow us for clues."

  1. I officially can’t delay for this phone, just two days left and I just hope I can get my hands on one,. I have already been reading a lot about the Android 2.2 update which can come in August, simply another reason to be thrilled about this great phone. Motorola and Verizon claim they will certainly update the phone to Android 2.2 “late summer.” It will be an over-the-air update. But out-of-the box on its July 15 launch it may have Android 2.1.

  2. really nice, thanks!
