Spike TV is drawing protest from its show "Half Pint Brawlers" for its use of the word "midget" from the Little People of America, reports AOLnews.com. 

 The show, which debuted on June 2, follows a Chicago-area wrestling troupe whose members are all under four feet tall. Gary Arnold, a spokesman for the Little People of America, doesn’t object to the show but finds its use of "midget" distasteful, the report states, adding that Arnold said that preferable terms are "little people," "people with dwarfism" or "person of short stature."

"Our concern is that use of the word ‘midget’ on the Spike TV show will reinforce archaic, objectifying and stigmatizing stereotypes of people of short stature that were popular when people of short stature were put on display simply because of physical stature," Arnold said, according to the report. 

Still, one of the show’s wrestlers, Steve Richardson, a.k.a. "Puppet the Psycho Dwarf, said he doesn’t find it offensive, although notes that some people "compare it to the ‘N-word,’ but it doesn’t have the same meaning."

Spike TV said it disagrees with the LPA’s interpretation of the word and pointed out that only the wrestlers themselves use the term on the show, TMZ reports.
