Icing on the Cake: Stanley Cup Hockey Finals Score in Monday Night Nielsens

NBC scored well in the Nielsen numbers for Monday night programming with the airing of the second game of the  Stanley Cup hockey finals, pitting the Chicago Blackhawks against the Philadelphia Flyers, reports TVbythenumbers.

The 2.4 rating in teh 18-49-year-old demo from 8 pm -11pm matched the same number from  last year’ game two of the finals, the article said. 

The 2.7 rating in the 18-49 demo that the game logged at 9:30  was just shy of the 2.9 CBS got for a rerun of "The Big Bang Theory" at 9:30.

At eight o’clock, ABC’s new broadcast of "The Bachelorette" had a 2.2 average for the hour, while the first hour of hockey earned a 1.9 in the 18-49 demo for the hour..

"The Bachelorette" improved to a 2.65 from nine to ten, and hockey climbed to a 2.55 average for the hour.

At ten, hockey ruled with a 2.7 average for the hour, besting ABC’s new series "True Beauty" which logged a 2.05 for the hour in its debut.

  1. Good for the NHL. But they have two great TV Cities with long Hockey histories with Chicago and Philadelphia. Do you think they would have these numbers if it was Phoenix versus Calgary?
