TBS, Not NBC, Promotes Conan’s ‘Tonight Show’ Stint for Emmy Consideration

Jun 8, 2010  •  Post A Comment

NBC has chosen not to do any campaigning to elicit Emmy nominations for Conan O’Brien’s “Tonight Show,” so his new network — TBS — has according to a number of media reports.

According to The LA Times’ Gold Derby blog, Steve Koonin, president of Turner Entertainment Networks, said in a statement,  “Conan’s great work in 2009 and 2010 deserves Emmy consideration. We’re very excited to have him join TBS later this year.”

The ads, according to the article, have run in Variety. This online ad touting Conan “For Your Consideration” is one we are reproducing from the the Gold Derby article.conn emmy ad.bmp

NBC has no ads with Conan, the article says, but have been running ads for “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,” which could make for an interesting Emmy race if both hosts are nominated for the same show.
