More Boycotting by Toyota Dealers of ABC TV Stations

Jun 3, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Toyota dealers are once again boycoting ABC stations, as the dealers are displeased by the coverage ABC News is giving Toyota’s problems with their cars.

The latest: In the New York City area Toyota dealers are boycotting ABC stations–in this case, primarily WABC, reports the New York Daily News.

"They’re bashing our product during the news, [so]  it made no sense to advertise,” said Dennis Lauzon, head of the Greater New York Toyota Dealer Association. He estimated the loss to WABC-TV at about $5 million. He said those monies were not the allocated to other stations affiliated with other networks, but, instead, was just not spent on TV advertising.

Previously, the Toyota dealers in the Southeastern portion of the U.S. had boycotted ABC affiliates because of the coverage of Toyota’s problems by ABC News.
