Video: White House Reporter Helen Thomas Retires Amid Scandal

Jun 7, 2010  •  Post A Comment

After offering up bigoted remarks about Jews last week, long-time White House news reporter Helen Thomas today announced her retirement from the Hearst Newspapers, reports Mediaite.com.

In a statement, Thomas said of her comments, “I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians. They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon.’’

Thomas, who will be 90 on August 4, 2010, has been a familiar face at a White House reporter, having served since the Eisenhower administration.

Here’s a video of the remarks Thomas made when interviewed by a Rabbi, saying that Jews should leave Israel.
