Woman in One of the World’s Most Famous Photos Dies

Edith Shain, the nurse who appeared in one of the iconic photographs of World War 2, died Sunday at age 91. The photo was taken Aug, 14, 1945, the day the war ended with the surrender of Japanese troops, during a celebration in Times Square. It appeared in Life magazine.
