Ad Prices for Conan’s TBS Show Approaching Leno and Letterman Prices

Aug 26, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Conan O’Brien’s new late-night cable show is getting ad prices that approach those of broadcast counterparts Jay Leno and David Letterman, Advertising Age reports.

Ad buyers say Time Warner’s Turner cable unit is getting $30,000 to $40,000 for 30-second spots in O’Brien’s show on TBS starting this November–an eyebrow-raising figure because it’s close to the cost for commercials during NBC’s "Tonight Show With Jay Leno" and CBS’s "Late Show With David Letterman," the story says.

  1. Yet the other day it was reported Conan’s writers would be taking a pay cut due to the move to TBS. Nice.

  2. What is surprising is that Advertisers are voluntarily paying these hiked fees with no evidence of the number of viewers that will be regularly watching after the first week. Or is this a little spin from TBS; and this is only for the first week.

  3. Thank you for a great post
