‘Boogie Nights’ Star, ‘Entourage’ Producers, Controversial Writer Developing HBO Series Based on Porn Industry

HBO is going ahead with development of a drama pilot about the contemporary pornography industry with a number of high-profile principals on board, reports the New York Post.

“Entourage” producers Mark Wahlberg and Stephen Levinson are executive producing the one-hour pilot, which will be written by controversial author James Frey.

"We’re going to make a sprawling epic about the porn business in L.A.,” said Frey, whose next book is titled “The Final Testament of the Holy Bible,” the story says. “We’re going to tell the type of stories no one else has told before, and go places no one has gone before."

The porn business is familiar territory for Wahlberg, who starred in “Boogie Nights,” a 1997 feature film focused on the porn industry.

Frey is perhaps best known for a confrontation with Oprah Winfrey in 2006 over whether Frey fabricated parts of his memoirs.
