Believing that tennis might be the perfect sport for 3D broadcasting, CBS Sports has made a deal with Panasonic to produce stereoscopic 3D coverage of the upcoming U.S. Open tennis tournament, reports B&C.
The tournament will take place Aug. 30-Sept. 12, and the CBS coverage will be broadcast on DirecTV’s n3D channel. The 3D coverage will be mainly of matches played at Center Court at the Tennis Center.
CBS Sports Executive VP of Operations and Engineering Ken Aagaard said: "The camera positions are very difficult, and obviously you want to be able to shoot it low [for 3D]. But I think we’ve got some good positions."
