Taking a cue from "Glee"–which had its premiere in May 2009 before a full-fledged launch in September 2009–Fox will debut its new high-profile sci-fi series in May 2011 before commencing its regular run in September 2011, reports Deadline.com.

The Fox plan was originally to have "Terra Nova" be a midseason replacement. The series is produced by Steven Spielberg and Peter Chernin.

Kevin Reilly, Fox entertainment president, said in a statement, "’Terra Nova’ will be one of the most visually stimulating and dramatically grand series to air on network television. It deserves to have an equally unique launch to distinguish that the show is unlike any other, and the spring promotional platform will give us the perfect opportunity to introduce this bold show to audiences.”
