In Time for Holidays, Consumers Will Have Yet Another Tablet Computer to Choose From — This Time from Motorola and Featuring Verizon’s FiOS TV Service

Motorola is working on a tablet computer to challenge Apple’s iPad, with the Motorola device based on Google’s Android software, and plans to get it into stores before the holiday shopping season, reports Bloomberg News.

The device will be a similar size to the iPad, about 10 inches, and feature television services from Verizon’s FiOS pay-TV service, the story says.

But Motorola won’t be alone in trying to edge into the iPad’s market share at the holidays: Research in Motion Ltd., the maker of the Blackberry smartphone, plans to have a tablet computer on sale by November.

Other companies including Lenovo Group Ltd. and LG Electronics Inc. are developing tablets, the story says.
