The Public Broadcasting Service is working with financially challenged KCET-TV, a public television station in Los Angeles, to keep it in the public television family, reports the Los Angeles Times’ Show Tracker blog.
As previously reported in the Los Angeles Times, KCET is mulling options ranging from selling its Silver Lake studios to leaving PBS as it grapples with financial challenges that require it to trim $10 million from its operating budget.
PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger said she wants to keep the station from leaving the family. "We have worked with KCET for 40 years and I hope we work with them for another 40 years," Kerger said. "That’s my intention."
