Director Jenny Ash, who is up for an Emmy Award later this month for History Channel’s "America – The Story of Us," wants to make a biopic about reggae singer Bob Marley, reports Deadline.com .
Ash’s picture would "concentrate on the year Marley spent living in London in 1977," the article said.
Ash told Deadline.com, "There’s never been a fiction film about Marley. We’ve never had a sense of him as a real man, as opposed to the legend."
However, at one point the Weinstein Co. said they were going to make a biopic on Marley. And Martin Scorsese, who did an acclaimed documentary about Bob Dylan, was at one point going to do a documentary on Marley. When he dropped out, Jonathan Demme was supposed to be attached to that project, until it was reported that he had left the project as well.
