Sorry, Snooki: Trademark Application for Nickname Turned Down

Aug 13, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi was turned down by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, which rejected her application to trademark her nickname for printed matter  reports The Smoking Gun.

The reason for the turn down was because of a "likelihood of confusion" with a 2004 trademark for a children’s book called, "Adventures of Snooky," which features a cat who falls into the water during family fishing outing, the story says.

While Snooki’s application for trademarking her name for books and other printed matter was turned down, her application to register a "Snooki" mark for use in “Entertainment in the nature of personal appearances by a television personality” looks like it’s on track, the story says.

Snooki is one of the stars of MTV’s "Jersey Shore."
