A TV sportscaster and golf analyst who recently came under fire for hosting LeBron James’ “The Decision” is in the spotlight again, this time thanks to an escalating war of words with Ryder Cup Captain Corey Pavin, The Washington Post reports.
The Golf Channel’s Jim Gray reported recently that Pavin had said he would put Tiger Woods on the U.S. Ryder Cup team, but Pavin later denied having said that to Gray. The controversy blew up Wednesday when the two men threatened to go at it physically, according to the story.
Pavin appeared at a press conference yesterday and backed up a message he had tweeted: “For the record, @golfchannel and Jim Gray has misquoted me re: picking Tiger. I never said such a thing and will not say a thing until 09/07."
Gray confronted Pavin at the press event and declared that Pavin is a liar, The Post reports. USA Today golf writer Steve DiMeglio reported that Gray stuck his finger in Pavin’s face and told him, "You’re going down."
