After Pulling Katy Perry Segment, ‘Sesame Street’ Tries Again to Meld Adult Sensibilities to Kids With ‘True Blood’ Spoof

"Sesame Street" appears to be trying to match adult sensibilities to the kiddie set, reports the New York Daily News

After pulling a segment with Katy Perry because of complaints about her low-cut dress, the show has released another clip that appears geared to adults, the story says. A puppet-spoof of HBO’s violent vampire show "True Blood" opens with a song almost identical to the real show. An orange muppet with a hairstyle similar to vampire Bill Compton orders True Mud in a diner from a waitress that looks similar to "True Blood" character Sookie. But instead, the muppet waitress brings him some True Spud, giving young viewers a rhyming lesson.

  1. Who’s the moron in charge of setting up of this segment for Sesame Street? Just like before where we tried to brainwash little kids into believing it was fine to let your boobs just hang out for the sake of being cool (and hey, I love boobs, but this IS FOR LITTLE KIDS) now they want to saturate toddlers with an innane vampire parody. Is media headed for hell in a handbasket because they whore themselves out in the name of being trendy or are they just uncreative and need to hang on to any hip idea they can emmulate? Where are the producers of yesteryear when SS was so educational and fun? HELP!

  2. Sesame Street producers have always tried to encourage parents to watch the show along with their kids. To this end, many segments have elements that will appeal to the adults, at the same time as they have a story to tell to children. This has been the case since the series started. It can be a delicate balance, but time has proven that Sesame Street is pretty good at getting it right.

  3. I don’t get what the issue is with the ‘True Blood’ spoof. If your kids done watc true blood (and they shouldn’t) then this to them is just another skit. It had nothing to do with vampires!!
All the kids will know is the ryhmes and the mud…..and that being ‘grouchy’ you will be seen as different….
Seriously people need to chill out.

  4. Interesting thoughts here. I appreciate you taking the time to share them with us all. It’s people like you that make my day 🙂
