"Dr. Who" has "visited every weird and wonderful planet you can imagine, so he was bound get around to America eventually," says Steven Moffat, the head writer and showrunner of the cult British show, according to Deadline.com’s Nellie Andreeva

The sixth season of the BBC show will begin with a two-part show set and partly filmed in the U.S., and will be co-produced by BBC America, the article says. Key scenes will be taped in Utah in November, with the story set in the late 1960s.

The Doctor, played by Matt Smith, Amy and Rory will travel to the Utah desert on a special mission and will be joined by Alex Kingston, who plays River Song on the show.

  1. “Bound to get around to America Eventually?”. You mean, kinda like when the Doctor visited Manhattan two seasons ago to battle Daleks in the partially completed Empire state building?
It’s probably more correct to say the “production crew” was bound to get to America eventually. Sounds like it’s the first time the entire crew is filming on location in the USA. Which is very cool!
