CBS Sitcoms Top Baseball Playoffs in Thursday Ratings

The highest-rated program of Thursday night in the Nielsens was CBS’s nerd comedy "The Big Bang Theory," reports TVbytheNumbers.com.

In the 8 p.m. hour "Big Bang" kicked off the night with a 4.0 rating in the 18-49 demo, followed by "X $#*! My Dad Says" with a 3.1. Both shows fared better than the first hour of Fox’s broadcast of the National League Championship Series game between the Philadelphia Phillies and the San Francisco Giants, which had a 2.8 in the 18-49 demo. NBC’s "Community" and "30 Rock" logged a 1.9 rating and a 2.2, respectively, while CW’s "Vampire Diaries" managed a 1.6. ABC aired a rerun of “Grey’s Anatomy,” which trailed the field with a 1.2 rating.

At 9 p.m. a new episode of "Grey’s Anatomy" netted a 3.9 rating in 18-49, while NBC’s "The Office" and "Outsourced" had a 3.4 rating and a 2.3, respectively. CBS’s "CSI" scored a 3.3 and CW’s "Nikita" had a 1.0. The baseball game on Fox held to a 2.8.

Baseball did win the 10 p.m. hour, with a 3.1 rating in the 18-49 demo. CBS’s "The Mentalist" had a 2.9, just a tad better than ABC’s "Private Practice" with a 2.8. NBC’s "The Apprentice" trailed with a 1.3.
