The star of CBS’s "Two and a Half Men" was involved in an incident in a New York hotel room early Tuesday morning and subsequently hospitalized for what was reported to be a bad reaction to medication, according to E! Online.

The police were called to the Plaza Hotel after receiving a complaint from an unidentified person who reported an "emotionally disturbed individual" in the building. Charlie Sheen was found yelling and acting intoxicated, the story says. According to some reports he was found naked and chairs had been thrown around the room.

Police sources said Sheen was intoxicated and irrational, TMZ.com reported. Other reports cited by TMZ indicated that Sheen had gone to the hotel with an unidentified woman and flew into a rage after he discovered that his wallet was missing.

His press representative offered this explanation: "What we are able to determine is that Charlie had an adverse reaction to some medication and was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to be released tomorrow."

No word yet on whether the incident violates his probation from a Colorado court. Sheen was not arrested or charged with anything.
