CNN’s ‘Parker Spitzer’ Fails to Impress Critics

CNN’s high-profile debut this week of the new prime-time talk show “Parker Spitzer” went over with a resounding thud among TV critics, Reuters reports.

The show co-hosted by journalist Kathleen Parker and disgraced former New York Gov. Eliot Spitzer drew almost universally bad reviews, the story reports, citing comments from critics that ranged from “unbearable” to “icky” and “obnoxious.”

“Barely a good word could be found on Tuesday” for the new show, the story says, quoting scathing reviews in The New York Times, Time magazine, the New York Post and other publications.

“Dan Kennedy of Britain’s Guardian newspaper said that ‘Parker Spitzer’ ‘did nothing to reverse the notion that CNN is utterly lost.’ He called parts of the show ‘wretchedly unwatchable,’" the story says.

But the show did find its fans, albeit apparently in the minority. Writing in the New York Daily News, S.E. Cupp said, “Eliot Spitzer was made to do this. He offered the kind of natural and effortless commentary and insight that CNN desperately needs. He was smart, decisive, engaging and–dare I say it–likable.”

  1. Interesting that a disgraced Governor gets a prime time show and Mark Sanchez gets fired. I guess that CNN gets to decide which person committed the bigger offense. The man who makes inappropriate ethnic remarks, or the man who prosecutes prostitutes and their customers, while paying for prostitutes himself. Hmmmmmm Is it about justice or RATINGS
