CBS has given the green light to a cop drama called "Rookies," a collaboration from writer Richard Price and actor/producer Robert De Niro, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Price and De Niro have signed a script deal with CBS for the show, the story reports. The show follows a team of six rookie cops working in high-crime areas.

Price and De Niro worked together previously on the feature "Mad Dog & Glory." Price’s most notable television success was HBO’s "The Wire," which showcased the writer’s hard-edged, street-savvy approach.
