Fox Blocks its Cable Networks from Dish Network Customers Over Rate Dispute

Oct 1, 2010  •  Post A Comment

Fox Networks today began blocking Dish Network’s customers from viewing Fox Sports, FX and NatGeo cable channels after a rate dispute, reports the Atlanta Journal-Constitution’s Radio & TV Talk blog.

Dish said the dispute is over Fox Networks’ request for a 50% rate increase, which are often passed onto customers through subscription rate increases, the story says.

The dispute doesn’t affect Fox News, the Fox broadcast network or Fox Business Channel, the story adds.

Dish’s 14.3 million customers, though, won’t have access to Fox Sports, FX and NatGeo.

In a press release, Dave Shull, senior vice president of programming for Dish, said, "Dish Network is not going to allow Fox or any programmer to bully our customers into paying such an unconscionable price increase."

  1. My loyalty towards Fox and all of their programming is gone and I’m glad to see Dish stand up against the big corporation. Thank you Dish for protecting your customers!

  2. I agree.

  3. Nicely said.

  4. Interesting layout on your blog. I really enjoyed reading it and also I will be back to read more in the future.

  5. Neat blog layout! Very easy on the eyes.. i like the colors you picked out

  6. I agree with Carrie. Now that we’ve seen Dish Network have to deal with networks including Fox, E!, Style, MSG Network and so many others who seem intent on gouging the otherwise most cost-effective TV provider. It’s getting annoying to be quite honest.
