The legal drama "Outlaw," which stars Jimmy Smits as a former Supreme Court justice, has been canceled by NBC, making it the third casualty of the new television season, reports the New York Times’ Media Decoder blog.

As previously reported, the network had earlier this month stopped production of the show, although it was kept on air while NBC closely watched its performance.

The four remaining episodes of the program’s eight that have been produced will be moved from Friday to Saturday nights, the Times article says. NBC will fill the Friday slot by extending its "Dateline" newsmagazine to two hours, airing from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. on Fridays, the piece notes.

  1. OK show but it went up against the great cbs blue bloods

  2. AMERICA IS NOT YET ORIENTED TO HISPANIC THEMED TELEVISION AND THAT IS WHY “CANE ” ALSO WENT DOWN THE TUBES.
UNIVISION AND TELEMUNDO HAVE BIGGER AUDIENCES THAN ABC , CBS, AND ABC BUT THEIR AUDIENCES DON’T RELATE TO ENGLISH SPOKEN TV PROGRAMS , UNLESS AMERIACA HAS PROGRAMS THAT INCLUDE LUCIOUS BEAUTIES LIKE SOFIA VERGARA OF “MODERN FAMILY” AND THEN THE DROOLING BEGANS !!

  3. A former Supreme Court Justice? Jimmy Smits playing one? It’s not a believable concept. Has nothing to do with nationality, ethnicity, skin color, whatever! It has to do with being a believable storyline.
Hollywood…where are the good stories? The good ideas?

  4. America is just getting tired ofliberal shows which shows whites as evil and against people of color.

  5. Give the guy a series where he’s one of us. You could tell from the jump, that this was another Hispanic against the man deal. He was great on NYPD Blue. Guess what, he was a regular dude! This series might sell in Cabo, but, here, NO
