San Diego Superior Court Judge DeAnn Salcido is being investigated by the Commission on Judicial performance after the judge allegedly taped herself on the bench with the goal of getting on television, reports the Hollywood Reporter’s THR, Esq. blog

The problem was that the judge allegedly didn’t let any of the litigants involved in the proceedings know that they were being taped, the story says.

The tape was passed to an entertainment lawyer, who then showed it to a TV producer, the article adds. The judge then allegedly taped herself again, after the producer asked for an additional day of courtroom proceedings, the story notes.

"It seems likely that Judge Salcido was trying to be as much like Judge Judy as she possibly could that day," the story notes. In one case, "she noted that a man arrested for urinating in public had spent 72 days in custody, joking that it was ‘giving new meaning to the term ‘zip it’."
