Ron Moore, the writer-producer behind the remake of "Battlestar Galactica," is in the early stages of remaking another television classic that was popular with baby boomers, especially boys.

It’s "The Wild, Wild West," according to EW.com’s The Ausiello Files.

The original series ran from 1965 to 1969 on CBS and starred Robert Conrad and Ross Martin, the story says. A feature film version was released in 1999, starring WIll Smith and Kevin Kline.

The project is in the very early stages and it could be weeks or months before Moore starts pitching the project to networks, the story says.

The original series was created by Michael Garrison, who tragically died just a year into the series, at age 44, when he fell at his house.

  1. This could be good. But I expect all the exteriors to be shot at night or with open shutters, and all the interiors to be lit really dark.
Bear McCreary will score the music.
Oh, yeah, and Artemus Gordon will be a woman. Artema?

  2. Please, no!
I guess it’s just further proof that originality has disappeared from Hollywood.

  3. After the horrible feature film which did not do justice to the delightful original series, if somebody really believes that they can capture the charm, verve and style that was “The Wild Wild West” then it’s great! There’s plenty of life left in the characters and many stories yet to be told. So much will depend on casting — there has to be charisma between the leads, as in the original. The franchise deserves another chance after the movie debacle of over a decade ago. Good luck to Ron Moore, but please don’t throw in new female characters just to try to lure in lady viewers. The ladies love a good masculine adventurer! And definitely use the old theme music — it’s one of the best ever!

  4. Sounds like sort of a robotic twist on “Doll House”. Sounds good to me. I liked the original series and the movie wasn’t that bad either.
