"My Generation" has become the second casualty of the new television season, reports the Associated Press.
As previously reported, the show’s ratings plunged 32% on Thursday from its already low premiere rating. "My Generation" tracked a group of young people 10 years since graduating high school together, and is the second cancellation for the TV season that began in September. The first cancellation was the Fox drama "Lone Star."
But "My Generation" might not be alone, points out Scott Collins in the Los Angeles Times. While some shows are performing well two weeks into the new TV season, it’s not any of the networks’ new programs.
For the first time in at least five years, Collins points out, not one new TV show has jumped into the top 10 among either total viewers or the 18-to-49 year-old demographic.
Some predict that ABC’s "The Whole Truth" and NBC’s "Outlaw" will be next to get dumped.
While poor marketing might be a reason why some shows tank, "there may be a simpler explanation: The new shows just aren’t that good," Collins writes.
Someone should rescue My Generation it was actually a brilliant show! The Thursday night choice was good it actually is a night when college students may gather to watch it before heading out to party. The 8:00 time slot may have been too “G” rated though + therefore scared off the very audience it was trying to reach. As a professional blogger who sometimes touches on TV reviews I will be sorry to see this one go. The cast was mostly unknowns but there were standouts. Since the show was based on/adapted from a European predecessor why not just SPICE it up + put it on later in the evening? I’m sure the viewers 10 years out of highschool would watch it then.
