On the heels of news that acclaimed director Steven Soderbergh (“Erin Brockovich,” “Traffic”) is in talks to helm the big-screen adaptation of 1960s spy drama “The Man From U.N.C.L.E.,” today word has surfaced that George Clooney may be tapped to play the lead, according to IndieWire.com.
Clooney is being mentioned for the role of top spy Napoleon Solo. Clooney and Soderbergh have done six films together, including "Ocean’s Eleven" and its sequels. They reportedly envision "U.N.C.L.E." as their final project in tandem.
Soderbergh reportedly wants to leave the action set in the Cold War era of the original show rather than bring it into a more modern time frame.
